The goal is clear. Probably every runner knows that last Saturday Eliud Kipchoge ran a marathon under 2 hours in Vienna for the first time in human history. We will try to overcome it with a marathon relay a week later. The marathon will be divided into 42 sections with a length of 1005 meters, on which selected sprinters will take turns. The final section will then belong to the athletic star originally from Havířov, Pavel Maslák.
So far, the Kenyan world champion in the 5 km run (2003) and the Olympic marathon winner from Rio de Janeiro (2016) have managed to break the marathon under 2 hours. Eliud Kipchoge only took care of this success last weekend in Vienna.
"In May, we did not know that Eliud Kipchoge would try the same thing from October 12 to 20 in Vienna, as part of the Ineos 1:59 Challenge. In a way, it will be a direct confrontation between Havířov and Vienna. In any case, the organizers Lumír Hlaváč and Martin Kučera, with whom I have the best experience, came right at the beginning with a trump card in the form of three-time world champion in the 400-meter run Pavel Maslák. So, in fact, two world champions will probably share it from a distance, ”says Petr Vabroušek, one of the most capable triathletes in history, who has a very good reputation in the marathon community. 
In Havířov, the attempt to cross this border will begin in Sunday, October 20 after the end and announcement of the main race. During the announcement ceremony, the organizers will prepare a 1005 meter long corridor and v 15:00 everything breaks out. Each pair of hands, each vocal cords, whistles, ratchets and other utensils count. Come in large numbers to support these fighters.
